Hi! Vanessa here - I'm really excited to have this medium of expression! I hope you are too. Please let us know via email or comments below what kind of topics you'd like to read about!

Have you noticed certain foods making a comeback in your house these last few months? Recent data have shown that Americans have been turning to particular types of foods during the COVID-19 pandemic; namely, foods like Prego tomato sauce, Campbell's Soup, Slim Jims, and other names you might have grown up with.

These foods had actually been trending downward in recent years. A likely reason for the upswing, beyond the fact that these foods are often inexpensive and very shelf-stable in a time when we might be visiting the grocery store less frequently, is that these bedrock brands have (seemingly) been around forever and might be providing us with a source of stability and comfort in this time of uncertainty.

So maybe it's all well and good for now that you've got some formerly beloved names reappearing in your pantry, but you're not willing to re-establish a long-term relationship. Or maybe now you're going to the grocery a little more often. This could be your chance to copy-cat some of these products with homemade versions - I mean, most of us are re-shuffling our time these days, right?

So why not DIY some of your favorite snacks? I'm guessing most of us have made the Chex Mix listed here at least once, but how about homemade Cocoa Puffs or Toaster Streudel? Cereal bars? These could be fun gateway recipes to get the kiddos involved, too. I don't think I'll be able to resist the Goldfish, myself. (You can even find the cutters online!!)

Let us know what you try, and we'll see you soon!
