Hi y’all – Vanessa here today with some thoughts to supplement Karen’s discussion on Food Ruts. Just a few weeks ago, I was talking with a client who was laughing at themselves, because they had no problem eating pretty much the same things for breakfast and lunch but were finding that their dinners were lacking that “wow” factor that they desired. I offhandedly mentioned that there was a very slight difference between a routine and a rut; a rut was just a routine that was no longer serving you. They had never thought of things this way, but it helped demystify things a little bit: it wasn’t that they were doing things *wrong* necessarily, it was just that their “right” needed to look a little different for a while. Maybe this way of thinking can help  you shake up your autopilot a little?

Another recent client interaction that may resonate with you is someone who “knew that they should be eating more salads” but they hated lettuce. I asked them if they would like a salad with everything but lettuce, and you could just see their mind being blown. 😊Could a narrow definition of the “right foods” or foods that you “should” be eating holding you back from changing things up a bit? The recipe I’m sharing this week could accomplish the same: a Greek salad, no lettuce, plus gnocchi! The gnocchi soaks up all the flavors of the dressing and provides a little extra energy and satisfaction. Try it and see if you can shake up your shoulds!
