Vanessa here this week! Has anyone traveled via airplane since the pandemic? I flew up to CT last week, and I'll tell you, it was a different experience than what we are all used to. All of the kiosks and shops are closed except for the newspaper/candy/soda store that is in every airport. Only about 10% of the restaurants/bars are open, and every one that was had giant lines with various degrees of masks and social distancing. Add to that, there was no beverage cart on any of my flights.

Needless to say, I was glad I had packed my own snacks for a long travel day through 4 airports. (That's what happens when you buy the cheap ticket!)

But pandemic or no pandemic, I highly recommend bringing a little something to nosh on when you travel. On this trip, I prepped the day before and:

Cut up some radishes, carrots, and celery

Made these energy balls

I put them in their own quart-sized Ziploc bags and stuck them in the fridge overnight so they were ready to stick in my backpack the next morning. I didn't know that my food options were going to be so limited on this particular trip, but honestly, I do this every time I travel. It's a good guarantee that I will have some nutritious eats while I'm on the go! Some other options are:

easy-to-eat fruit like Cuties, grapes, or blueberries

SkinnyPop popcorn

Nut Thins or whole-grain crackers like Wasa or Triscuits

cheese sticks

nut butter packs or individual cups

We've got some other ideas on the "Good Food Made Simple" resource. Check it out!
