So This Happened Last Weekend...
So this happened at my house last weekend...
Not really what you would expect to see on dietitian's countertop, is it? At the very last minute on Saturday evening, I agreed to have five middle school boys (including my son) sleep over at my house. I'd already fed them pizza for dinner (before I knew there would be a sleepover) - but judging by how my son eats - I knew we'd need some serious snack to get through the night.
If anything, this picture proves I am not one of those dietitian moms who gives the guests weird, healthy food (at least I gave them mini cans of soda, right?) By the time the boys left the next morning, everything in the picture was demolished (except for that bottle of wine - I'm not that kind of mom!) That bottle of wine was my impulse purchase when I went on the last-minute snack run. I admit, there was some kind of "reward" thing going on there - "I'm hosting a bunch of middle school boys for a sleepover - I deserve wine!" But I owned it and enjoyed the wine and that was that. Honestly, the whole evening was not that bad. The worst part was the smell in my basement when they all left ;)
The other funny part of this story is that when I went on this Kroger run, I kept thinking, "I'm totally gonna run into a client who will see me with all this stuff!" Trust me, dietitians have these thoughts all the time. One time, I was shopping for some Superbowl food (picture lots of chips, cheese, fatty meats, etc.) and I did run into a client. I like to think my cart made me look more human in the eyes of my client (but who knows, maybe they thought I was a total fraud!)
Thanks for reading this irreverent post...I hope it was fun!
